The hottest topic in the human hair industry is "Is all Human Hair the same? And if it is, why is there such a huge price gap?". Well, we all know that human hair is human hair, right? But then why IS there such a huge difference in price? Here is what we were able to find:
All human hair IS indeed "created" equally, but it is the "process" that makes the huge difference. Each strand of hair has cuticles, such as shingles on a roof top. As your hair grows, all of the "shingles" are facing downward however, sometimes, during the manufacturing process, the hair is placed in such a way that not all "shingles" are going in the same direction. This is what causes the hair to mat and tangle.
Remy/Cuticle hair hit the market hard because it was human hair with all the "cuticles" going in the same downward direction OR the cuticles were removed entirely, preventing tangling. In my experience, there is still a lot of "Remy/Cuticle" hair on the market that claims to be "100% Tangle-Free" which is false because it has been over-processed with chemicals.
The best hair on the market, to date, is the 100% virgin (Indian) Remy human hair because it is UNPROCESSED. This hair tends to be more expensive because it can be worn for a year or longer (depending on how well you maintain it) and is indeed 100% Tangle-Free. This hair generally comes in natural colors only unless you request to have it dyed/bleached or you can choose to do it yourself. If you ever end up spending the money to purchase this virgin hair, please make sure that your hair professional ensures the cuticles remain in the same direction during application or the hair WILL tangle.
Virgin human hair tends to last longer if you use hot oil treatments on a regular basis along with a deep conditioning after each wash. Once the hair has been removed (mainly weaves), you can wash and deep condition the hair with a mayonnaise conditioner before re-applying the hair.
