Human or Synthetic?

Human or Synthetic?
Choosing human versus synthetic really depends on what style you want to achieve. If you want to have the ends loose, either would work, however if you wanted the hair to be braided all the way to the ends, synthetic would be the cheaper alternative.

Can I wash my braids?
Yes, your braids can be washed. You can either apply diluted shampoo directly to your scalp or you can purchase a braid shampoo that you can spray onto your scalp. Either way, you should use your finger tips to manipulate your scalp and remove any dirt and oil. Rinse thoroughly. Allow braids to dry before going to bed to avoid the chance of smelly braids (mildew). Apply a braid spray to replace any moisture lost during the washing process.

How do I take care of my cornrows?
Caring for your cornrows is very different than caring for individual braids. Since cornrows last only a short amount of time, it is imperative that you tie them up or cover them at night, before going to bed. This will prevent the hair from releasing from the cornrow. If you wash your cornrows, apply a braid spray to replace any moisture that was lost during the washing process and cover so any loose hairs will lie down against the braid.

How do I care for my individuals?
Caring for your individual braid style is very different than caring for cornrows. Individuals that are braided all the way to the ends are very low maintenance. As long as they are washed and re-moisturized, you are okay. You might want to tie them up or cover them at night to help them last a bit longer, too.

My braids are loose at the ends. How do I care for the loose hair?
Caring for loose hair is very similar to caring for a weave. Human hair can be curled but again, synthetic hair cannot. Before washing, you much detangle the hair by using a detangler (or diluted conditioner) and work your way from the ends upwards. After hair is tangle free, wash hair but DO NOT RUB as this will cause the hair to tangle. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner as needed. Use a dry towel to pat dry your hair (DO NOT RUB). Allow hair to air dry before going to bed. NEVER SLEEP ON WET HAIR!!
